VENICE FILM FESTIVAL
Venice Film Festival – Glamour, auteur cinema and magic on the lagoon
Every year, between the end of August and the beginning of September, the Lido of Venice becomes the center of the cinematic world thanks to the Venice International Film Festival, the oldest and one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
Organized by the Venice Biennale since 1932, the Festival is much more than a festival: it is a unique cultural and visual experience, which combines auteur cinema, world premieres, international stars, red carpets and artistic reflection, in an elegant and unrepeatable atmosphere.
An event for true enthusiasts… and for the curious
Participating in the Festival means being able to preview films that will be talked about in the months to come, but also immersing yourself in a world where art, current events, style and creativity merge.
Screenings, masterclasses, meetings with directors, actors and critics enliven the Palazzo del Cinema and the spaces surrounding the Lido, also accessible to the public with single tickets or daily passes.
Among the most coveted awards:
- The Golden Lion, awarded to the best film in competition
- The Marcello Mastroianni Award (young actors)
- The Silver Lion, and other awards for direction, screenplay and acting
Discover the updated program on the official website of the Biennale Cinema.
The Lido between red carpets and relaxed atmospheres
The charm of the Festival also lies in its unique Venetian style: here glamour and informality coexist. You can meet famous directors and actors on bicycles along the seafront, attend free screenings on the beach or sip a coffee next to famous faces of international cinema.
Many events are open to the public, just book in advance. You don’t have to be a VIP to experience the magic of the Exhibition.
Where it takes place: Lido di Venezia – main locations:
- Palazzo del Cinema
- Sala Grande
- Sala Perla
- Palabiennale
- Arena Lido
How to get there: from central Venice, vaporetto lines 1, 5.1, 5.2 or the special Biennale ferry.
